Suncorp is a collection of financial services businesses. Following the takeover of insurer Promina in 2007, insurance is by far the group’s largest area (contributing more than half its profits). Banking is the second most important area, with wealth management bringing up the rear. IAG and rival Suncorp control 70% of the Australian general insurance market. While banking rivals include Bank of Queensland and the big four banks.
